T-74 Sake Brewery Tour (Tokyo)

T-74 Sake Brewery Tour (Tokyo)

Tokyo’s Sake born from pure clear streams!

“Sawanoi” Ozawa brewery is located in Ome City, in the western part of Tokyo.
This sake brewery is a long-established store that is recorded in an old document from 1702 in the Edo period. The sake “Sawanoi” was named from the place called “Sawai” where abundant water springs up, and the trademark of this brewery is swamp crab. Actually as you know, swamp crabs only live in clean water.
There is water and forest, and you can enjoy the best scenery both spring fresh green and autumn leaves. It is a wonderful brewery that is also called “Sake lovers’ paradise” with facilities for eating and drinking and sake tasting.

“Sawanoi Kushi Kanzashi Museum” is a museum known for Tomoko Okazaki’s world-class collection of 4,000 women’s hair ornaments from the Edo period to the Showa period. 400 luxurious items such as inlays and lacquer are on permanent display along with wigs and kimonos. Please enjoy the “beauty” of Japan!

Also you can enjoy the other museum “Gyokudo Museum”, Gyokudou Kawai, who is the great master of Japanese-style painting.

“Sawanoien” is a natural Japanese garden on the banks of the river. There is a tasting sake, a souvenir shop and a place where you can eat and drink.

“Kanzanji” is a temple that was erected in 1930.
Ceiling painting is brilliant.

“Mamagotoya” is a tofu restaurant which utilizes the mother water of Sawanoi.

☆Recommended Activity from “Sawanoi”
 for the outdoor lovers…

Mt. Mitake Hiking

Mt. Mitake, a mountain of faith that has been revered as a sacred mountain since ancient times. It is also known as a treasure trove of wild birds, insects, and plants. In the summer, head to the rock garden where a clear stream flows through the moss-covered rocks in search of coolness. In autumn, you can listen to the cries of the kantan, the queen of the insects, and in autumn, you can enjoy the rich nature of the four seasons, from children to the elderly. It is widely popular as a mountain that can be made.

You can reach the Mitake-san station by cable car, then you can enjoy hiking for 1 hour return to shrine, or for about 4 hours in one lap through shrines, waterfalls, and rock gardens.
