N-28 Kamikochi Trekking (April – November)
The Mountain Resort, Kamikochi
W. Weston, a British missionary who came to Japan, praised Kamikochi, the Hotaka mountain range in his book “Mountaineering and Exploration in the Japan Alps” in which wrote about his experience. Until then, climbing mountains had always been thought of as an ascetic pursuit, suited to priests and monks, or for life such as hunting. His achievements, that made the mountain climbing widely known as “leisure” and made Kamikochi famous, are still widely praised as “the father of modern Japanese mountain climbing”.
Today, 1.2 million people visit Kamikochi every year.
Kamikochi is a precious treasure of Japan that has been given two titles, “Special Place of Scenic” and “Special Natural Monument” because of its beautiful scenery.
Currently, only two locations in Japan, Kurobe Gorge and Kamikochi, are certified. (as of 2019)
Kamikochi is also the starting point for full-scale mountaineering such as Mt. Hotaka and Mt. Yari, but this tour only walks on flat areas so that even beginners can enjoy trekking.

9:00 Meet at JR Matsumoto station, then guide takes you to Kamikochi by bus.
11:00 Arrive Taisho-ike ( pond) at Kamikochi, then start trekking

- Inner shrine of Hotaka Shrine
- Myojin pond
You can take lunch at the local diner restaurant around this area.
16:00 Take a bus to Matsumoto station.
18:00 Arrive at Matsumoto station, then finish the tour.

From the plateau at an altitude of 2000 meters, you can enjoy a 360-degree panorama overlooking the Northern Alps, the Southern Alps Mountain Range, and Mt. Fuji.
In particular, the natural landscape where you can see the seasonal changes of the Northern Alps far above the clouds is as spectacular as the “Observatory of the Alps”.
Note: Except only limited summer season, you can’t go by public transport. If you wish to visit, please contact us at any time.
